Before I get any complaints, yes, I know perfectly well that 'sampledelica' is a word meaning 'to use and manipulate samples in music', which is completely different to 'sticking Mellotron samples onto your album'. See if I care. As you can see, this is laid out in a similar fashion to the albums list, only without the 'confirmed' highlighting, of course. Actually, a quick word on the subject of sampling. I'm sure if you've got this far you'll know this anyway, but digital sampling kicked off properly with the Fairlight CMI around 1980, although it took some years for people to use samplers for sampling other instruments rather than as special effects machines. The Mellotron sound was so 'out' in the '80s that it took until around the end of the decade before anyone really bothered sampling them, so there'll be very few, if any examples here from that decade. In the mid-'90s, EMU Systems brought out their famed 'Vintage Keys' module, containing hundreds of PCM samples of old keyboards, many of them sampled very badly, which didn't affect its sales one jot. Roland followed up with a superior effort a couple of years later and now every manufacturer has to have decent Rhodes/Hammond/Moog/Mellotron samples on their instruments, or no-one will buy them. Software emulations (especially the ubiquitous M-Tron) are everywhere, too, with the predictable result that Mellotron sample use is now endemic and it's becoming increasingly difficult to ascertain what is and isn't real on recent releases.

For some unknown reason, although loads of intelligent pop/alt.country/Americana-type bands make the effort to use real Mellotron/Chamberlin, many current prog outfits are lazy and just dig a digital one out of a box or, at best, sample a real one and use that. To be fair, they can't always find a real one in decent working order (or at all), but certainly in the UK and the US, there are plenty of hire companies that will do you one at a daily rate, or if you live in the UK, mail me! More effort required, I think.

Incidentally and unsurprisingly, I don't feel inclined to put quite as much effort into this page as on the regular albums list, but I'll try to remember to add entries as they occur to me.
